MX3501N With Postscript& driver can't print on MAC

Have License key installed. Installed just released driver via Sharp for MAC 10.8.4.

Able to browser in and see toner levels and set preferences.
UNABLE to print. In que, shows loading then immediately after "loaded" goes into pause. If "restart" just goes into same sequence. Have reloaded driver still unable to print.

Copier prints OK on the rest of network on all Windows machines.

FYI, We know just enough about Macs to install drivers, set up scan to email etc, for customers. Mainly have Microsoft background re printer issues.

    Any help appreciated!

Is the machine set up for user authentication? I know if it comes from a Windows machine without a user code the copier will dismiss it into the nether space, not quite sure about what occurs when it happens from a Mac. I would have to assume the same, but my experience is limited to less than 5 Macs and all are working well.

Not that this helps you, however, I am in the same boat except it's on an mx 5500. All but one user has Windows and every time the Mac user sends a pdf the mfp says it's receiving the data then "drops out." The Mac sends everything else fine however it "drops out" the pdf's sent to it.

Same issue, is user authentication enabled? If there are no codes present the copier discards them into the void.

Re: MX3501N With Postscript& driver can't print on MAC

One of the more common errors when installing a network printer on a Mac is choosing the wrong protocol (usually IPP instead of LPD).

Go to System Preferences, Print & Scan. Select the printer from the list and hit the minus ( - ) symbol below the list to remove it.

Now, click the plus ( + ) symbol and choose "Add Printer or Scanner..."

On the new pop-up window, you'll have four categories. Default, Fax, IP, Windows. Choose Default if the printer has Bonjour set up, and simply choose its friendly name from the list. Otherwise, choose IP.

On the IP screen, enter the following fields.
    Address: (the printer's IP address)
Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD (do not choose Internet Printing Protocol)
Queue: The queue name, if required. Blank is fine.
Name: Friendly name for the printer. Sharp Color, or whatever.
Location: Optional, like "Reception" or "Accounting".
Use: Here you will select the print driver to use. If it is auto selected, great. Otherwise, choose "Other..." and browse to where the correct PPD is located. Don't worry, it will copy the PPD to the Libraries automatically.

When done, click the Add button, and then answer any configuration questions.

That should be it. Usually, the issue is that techs see "Internet Printing Protocol - IPP" and their brain associates that with the "Standard TCP/IP Port" from Windows, and they choose that by mistake.

Oh boy, really testing my memory here. When sending a job, a profile has to be created (odd I know, why can't CrApple just allow it to be edited directly from the printer driver?) that includes the user codes. When starting a print job, there will be a drop-down menu listing the program. In that menu, should be another section called "Job Handling". Add your user codes in here and your copier should start appropriately spitting out print jobs.

Thanks Sam Tofu. We re loaded and set to LPD. Yes that fixed it.
