    MX-2640 Fuser trouble

Working on a MX-2640, The customer has had the machine for about 4 months. BW count is 1627 color is 608, first time out the customer complained about a noise coming out of the fuser. We checked it a noticticed that the web unit was not advancing and and the noise was coming from the fuser roller rubbing on the toner collected on the web cleaning roller, so we replaced the fusing unit under warranty. The noise went away for awhile then they just called us up and said it had returned. The same thin happened again. The fuser motor seems to run fine and the pressure release also works, we ran sim 43-31 and it completes just fine. Anyone elso having problems with the fusing units and what to you recomend to fix it.

Probably running a lot of heavy coverage, remind them that this is an office copier and not a production printer (or any printer for that matter).

You can set the web motor to advance at the end of every job. Test command 43-32. set A to 0. We have done this on several that have had the noise. Always seems to be heavy coverage users. Also you can change the interval from 100 to something lower.

We have 2 MX3140's at the same location. 1 has this problem 1 doesn't. Will definitely try Dave's cure.

    Thank you.

We've been doing this since the CJupiters came out; if the web is not moving fast enough, the toner builds up and the web will stall a bit causing the noise and poor cleaning. Of course the web will not last as long, but that is of little consolation.

Check your fuser web motor in sim 6, have had a doa one on a 4140, causing rubbing noise on pressure roller. The newer motors have thicker leads, spaced farther apart too.
