    AR M450N - Finisher Trouble

Sharp AR M450N shows error message
    "CODE F1 - 87 FINISHER TROUBLE"

I see similiar posts here. Is this a common issue? What is the fix for this copier?

    Thanks in advance.

    Is it an AR-FN6?

    For the AR-FN6:

First choice) Replace the (4) stapling tray pressure arms (LSTPP0357FCZZ). After you replace them you'll see that the tips get worn down, and wedge into place so that the black support plates cannot move out of the way of the stapler. The black plates look warped, but they aren't (I should say they always look like that).

They are fairly easy to get to. You do have to remove the finisher from the copier. Remove the front and rear covers. Open the right door. Pull the pins that retain the door. From there you'll see the arms. They can be changed with a little maneuvering.

Thanks, I really appreciate the quick response. After a little investigation, I ran the sim test and it too gives the error code F1-87. The info I have says it's a problem with the front staple rotation motor. Is this in conflict with what you are suggesting? I don't have the finisher diagram yet so I can't see what you are discribing.

    AR-FN6 or AR-FN7

Yes, it is a stapler rotation error. The stapling tray pressure arms become dull at the tips, so when the stapler attempts to move into position to make the staple it cannot move the guides out of the way. No conflict.

You still haven't answered. Is it an AR-FN6 or AR-FN7?

    finisher trouble

The fix you recommended as "first choice" is to replace the four pressure arm pins in the lower alignment tray area. This area of the copier is never used. Is it still moving and subject to wear? Or is there a likely second or third choice?

The stapler must home every time the machine is powered Off/On.

2nd Choice) Clip overtight wire ties to the stapler rotation home position sensor.
3rd Choice) Shake down the stapler to its bottommost position (wherever it settles is fine). Adjust the flag that triggers the stapler home position sensor. If I remember correctly its the narrow slit in the flag.

Both of these are much less likely.
If you have a better idea, go for it.

    If it's an AR-FN6... Yes.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have had this several times and there is a bulletin on this F1-87. It only means that a spring is fallen off from the black plate acting as a gate to allow the staple head to move back and forth. You have to take the finisher out of the MFD before you can refit the spring. Make sure to apply some grease to the plates before re-installing the finisher. Good Luck.
