    I have seen generic toner cause grey background. Install new toner, try name brand, different lot of toner or different generic toner. I then placed a sheet of paper on lead edge of glass and then ran 50 sky shots and problem cleared itself. Sometimes you need to do a DV change, but sometimes you can get away without the DV.

    hey Akitu you just wrap tape around the entire ass'y where the black piece that holds the spring is- shut the right side cover and get out A.S.A.P. Done it several times when far from shop to get by until I get a replacement.

    After replacing Drum/DV and before running calibration, make sure process sensor in the transfert unit is clean. Location of the sensor is not very obvious.

    And I hope you ran 25-2 without the toner cartridge installed.

    is it a solid/full page background or just a band a few inch wide of grey backgrond/shading.

    havent seen one with full background but have came across one with a background band down the page lead-trail.

    turned out a couple of the leds on the scan lamp were out causing the issue when it scanned the original

    I believe it is in the adjustment section and on numerous posts on this forum. All the newer Sharps are like this. Normally just causes a toning issue with an error code but sometimes you may have other issues.

    Hi,

    have you tried doing a forced process control, sim 44-06 I think.
    had similar issue recently and this did the trick!

    Model was known to dump toner upon cartridge insertion or moving machine. Can determine by running Sim 25-1. Value will be very low like 30-60. Can detone by running Sim 7 with dv check disabled and make 50-100 skyshots.

    It's not in the service manual, it's in the installation manual (pages 1-4 and 1-5).
    Install dv, run 25-2, and install toner. We put the toner that has been used for adjusting and testing in the box and ship the machine without the toner installed.
    We do this for all the newer machines except the Dragon types and the Andromeda types.
