    MX-2310U Printing from USB

Ok, so this has me baffled.
When going to document filing there is no option for "Ex Data Access"
The customer wants to print from USB but the option is not available.
The option to turn this feature on/off does not exist in the system settings.
I can scan TO the USB device.
I updated the firmware so I know that it can read off the USB device.
I have restored the machine to factory defaults.

    Any thoughts?

Can't recall if the 2310 comes with postscript or if this is a machine where it still had to be purchased separately and added. Postscript is required for printing from USB.

The PS3 expansion kit is required to print PDF files from USB, jpg/tiff should be available as default.

Make sure that USB Memory Direct Print is not disabled in System Settings and you are using the front USB slot. The USB device has to be formatted to FAT32 and be 32GB or less.

The USB Memory Direct Print option doesn't exist in system settings. It's supposed to be in printer settings > default > USB Memory Direct Print However there's nothing there below Job Spooling option.
I spent a good hour looking around the system settings for some other place it could be to no avail.
Also looked at the web page of the machine with no luck there either.

the usb is the same I use on all other machines, so it falls within the criteria.

It is a "U" model; everything is an option.

Correct. You need to have the Printer Expansion Kit installed (MX-PB14).

Here is the page from the Operation Manual:

Printing from a USB drive is a little later in this section of the operation manual.

Thankfully Sharp is no longer producing U version machines! So at least that particular nightmare will be resolved........

    Have a great weekend.
