    Sharp MX-3115 Jams when printing

OK have a customer with a MX-3115 and you can copy things all day and it will run just fine but the second you send a print from a PC it jams right as its coming out of the tray right before it would begin to head up to the image transfer belt and will get code "PPD2_Drum". I have replaced the MFP board already and updated firmware any body got any more idea's? Thanks.

Have you updated the print driver? Is it a WSD port? Reports are that the SC_2 port works better.

This is what PPD2_Drum message means on an MX-4101n:

The meaning of JAM code PPD2_DRUM is not a paper jam; this code appears when the Drum Rotation
Sensor (DHPD) detects a locked drum mechanism.
    Please check the following points.
    1. Drum drive mechanism.
    2. Drum motor.
    3. Drum rotation sensor (DHPD) and wire harness.
    4. PCU PWB.

I can only assume the message has similar meaning in the 3115.

I have it set up with TCP/IP port also I forgot to mention I put an identical model in the same location to keep them up and running while I figure this one out and it runs fine with same drivers and everything the same.

Yeah the thing that's screwing with me is that it will make copies and run's fine but as soon as a job is sent from a computer it jams??

I assume when you say it will make copies that you're testing both color & b/w?

Back up the machine and run 62-17 to dump print memory. Hook up the machine to a laptop via crossover cable, auto configure driver, and test printing. If the drivers are not auto configured, conflicting paper sizes can cause jamming. Do all your tests in color to use all the color components.

Check your drum units. Pull, powder, align and adjust.

I have seen this code thrice in the past 6 months. The first was on a 4140 with a constant "please wait" message. All signs pointed to the PCU board; turned out to be a bad HDD. Pulling the 22-6 to USB revealed the code as it was a brick.
The second and third were in the past 2 weeks. Both machines were 5141 and the magenta drum units were locked solid; and I mean SOLID. In both instances, the drum was actually cocked upward on the rear end. The rear of the drum had popped out of the drum unit collar. The customer was making copies when I arrived. Looking at the job log revealed it was print only.

Mojo, how do you pull a 22-6 to a USB? Sounds like it could be handy, can you pull trouble and error reports as well?

Re: Sharp MX-3115 Jams when printing

if machine was made from October 2012 to march 2013, sharp just released new sensor bulletin in US adding more faulty sensor locations in copier. looks like drum sensors have been added. also do a 64-5 and 64-1 test print(64-5 is mfp control ; 64-1 is pcu generated) is your customer printing at a different dpi than copy mode. when resolution is changed speed of engine is changed, could be why you have issue in print and not copy ?
