AR 160 fuzzy line 2-2.5 inch from Lead edge

This fuzzy line goes across the page and is 2 to 2.5 inches from the true lead edge, meaning as the copy exits the fuser the lead edge is coming out first then measure down and it can be very dark or not so dark and it is not every copy but very regular. The line itself is about 1/4 inch wide. I thought maybe a cleaning blade but no, I looked at the scanner for binding up or maybe hitting a screw that may be to long but no that was not it, The lamp is not cutting out. STUMPED. could it be a Laser unit issue? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Check for lint, hair, etc. on transfer charge unit; also, re-check the process unit for any contamination.

For starters I'd print some 64-01 self prints to determine if you have a scanner issue or an engine issue.

Does this machine print or fax? A self print would work just fine.

Once you decide if its on optical issue or engine issue we'll take it from there.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

You definately need to run a self print, but it's probably coming from the engine and most likely it is from the main charge. Also check the drum life.

Went back to the job on tuesday and found some grease and toner on the springs for the main corona, after I cleaned them and ran 25 copies it all tested ok, but as I said it is intermittent and I am waiting untill the end of the day to call the customer to verify fix

Did you replace the main charge unit? If you didn't then I hope you cleaned up the original unit. Also, did you run a test print to see if the line was coming from the engine? If you clean up the main charge be careful not to get fuzzies from your wipe on the screen grid. Another thing I thought of that is common for this model is when you change the drum and blade, you really need to clean out the waste toner auger assy. behind the drum. I have seen tech's neglect to do this and it can cause a similar line that you are getting.
