    U2-90 U2-91 on MX3100

    Hello everyone,
I'm dealing with an increase (weekly now) of these 2 code on a bunch of MX3100n. We have a fleet (more than a hundred) of these MFP in different location now from close to 4 years. We replace some PCU, PCU EEPROM (Sharp had to program it). But we can not keep the pace... As anyone deal with this code and got through without replacing EEPROM.

I got some info from a very reliable source.

Confirm you have good power going to the equipment, any U2 code with sub-code can definitely be related to unstable power. This is the most common cause of a U2 code.
Confirm you have the latest part number Motherboard, and good condition DC power supply board.
To permanently clear this code (in most cases, providing the above 2 conditions are also met), leave main side door open, backup ALL to HDD via sim 56-01. Perform a device clone as well. Once complete, run Sim 16, Sim 14, perform the emergency firmware installation and then run HDD to ALL again in sim 56-01. Restart and you should be OK. This procedure 'reinitializes' the eeproms without replacing them.

Whenever you order new EEPROMs from Sharp, make sure to order a new MFP and PCU EEPROM as they're created as a set.

It is possible to reset all three EEPROM's in "hidden code"

At first save HDD and SRAM onto a USB-stick with code 56-02!!
    Then enter "hidden Code"
Copier must be in "copy-mode", enter #*CA#.
    Then enter code 80-09.
Choose all three EEPROMS and touch "Execute"
When finished the machine will be in original factorysettings.
Enter the code 56-02 and replace the settings with the settings saved on the USB-stick.
Now the machine will act as before without U-code!!
    Good luck!

It's people like you that made Sharp change the elevated sims, and now no one has them.

yea I think if you do what is in that elevated sim procedure it will kill all three of those boards, had a tech do it on smaller machine thinking it would fix a problem, it cleared out all the page counts and machine wouldn't recognize toner cart, had to replace mcu, pcu and scn pwb.
