So this is my second post, can I get a manual?![]()
I have read the ideas and comments of the serious participants of CopyTech Net regarding Hit-N-Run postings and members. I am recently unemployed and have an opportunity at a business that is Toshiba Copier Authorized and has lost their in-house tech and am trying to jump on the Toshiba wagon to learn as much as possible about Toshiba copiers to impress upon the owner that I am sincere and will not leave him if he'll put the money on me to become his new Authorized Tech. I have found the post where ToshibaGuy posted a Copier Basics PDF and am studying it now. While taking a break from reading, I looked at some of the postings and noticed the Hit-N-Run title. I may seem like a Hit-N-Run Poster, but, I didn't request a service manual. What's a service manual? (...I thought that one was funny. I saw that from another techs post) I really appreciate everything the avid and participating tech does to post information he/she can offer newby's, but...I need to add and would like to state in my defense, once I find the information I need, I get back to work and solve the problem, then carry on with my life. This means I don't necessarily stop and take the time to come back to where I found the information and praise anyone left or right. I feel I am not such a seasoned professional to offer anyone that is consistent to the site, any constructive or helpful information. I never get any follow-up communications from the forum asking if that helped me. My employer doesn't want to pay me to browse the Internet or participate in forum activities and when the day is over, I simply go home and, living by myself, have quite a life of mowing the yard, doing my own laundry, wash the car, get online and pay bills or maybe even have some peace and quiet time to watch some Cartoon Network and try and laugh a bit. Or maybe the Comedy Channel. Discovery Channel is fun to watch as well. But, unless I actually thought my comments were needed, or that anything I could say would help anyone else, I don't think my time posting anything I know would help anyone. I just am not that caliber of technician that I feel so confident there's anything I can do to help another. So, for all serious technicians that read this, I want to seriously thank you from the sincere bottom-of-my-heart that, I super appreciate what work you do on the forum sites to post the experienced knowledge that you have, and have probably gained from your employer PAYING to send you to school and you applying yourself to make the grade and go on to help other newbies to "at least" survive in their meek little world and get through a phase in their life that they didn't understand. From ToshibaGuys' Basic Copier Technologies PDF posting, I just may be able to show this man enough interest that I may land a job with him and he may send me to Toshiba school and I'll get a job/career from this. Can you please understand this posting as Praise to all you serious techs that DO post and attempt to help others, that I just may have brightened my future just from ToshibaGuy's simple posting of Copier Basics. I thank all you guys & gals involved and if there's ever, anything else I can contribute to this site, PLEASE MAKE IT KNOWN and I promise, I will respond ! ! ! ! ! Richard Lines, Memphis, TN riclines@yahoo.com. CompTIA A+, N+ (from 2002, old and outdated), IBM typewriter repairman (old and outdated), Certified Network Cable Installer (LDCCA, who can't run some stupid cable), Nuclear Power Operations at Memphis State University (never got a job so now I'm back to stupid), U.S. Army Administrative Specialist 71L, like, who needs info on how to type? So, as you can see from a brief description of my skills, just what exactly do I have to offer others?!!

I noticed this problem too. We are all here to help each other out so it wouldn't kill someone else to help us out too or even let us know if any of our suggestions worked out. This is by far one of the best forum sites I have used. Keep up all the good work guys!!!
Hey Guys I have my own Indy forum and belong to another. We banned a user because he was taking all the manuals (downloading from ftp) and reselling the stuff. We now have a required post count to access ftp. Unfortunately this is what we have to do.
If the Admin here wants the name and ip of this guy just email me and will give it.
PJDBM: I would like to know just for my own knowledge.
RPLINES: Feed back is requested just so we know that you are back up and running not always as a pat on the back. Alot of the techs here visit more than one site so the knowledge may not be there own. Sometimes we just like to know what it was to increase our own knowledge about something we heard about but not experienced and feed back helps put the notes in place.
If this is a way for you to get rich then look for another career but if you enjoy a challenge, like to help people and enjoy fixing things then this is the job for you. Either way most here will help, they just may not be zealous about your post count or skill set until you have been around a while. We do help but we are cautious about endusers and trolls that like to ruin a good thing.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!
I agree that the 1 post wonders are probably after those free manuals, but I have to give these people a lot of credit for taking on a device as complex as a MFP. And of these people, probably only half will be able to fix something. Myself, I wish them well, and Good Luck fixing!
Hey Guys,
Rick-In-Memphis here. I just sent Aneurysm a private message concerning 1 post wonders and the fact that I have contributed with comments of my experience with an HP laserjet I recently got some help on. After resolving the problem, I took the time to reply and share my experience after troubleshooting this 13.02 paper jam error. My stats still show I've only made 1 posting, which I suppose that's been ever since my first post about 1-posting-wonders, and I feel rejected because my comments and postings are not being recognized or counted. Can something be done about this miscount?

I Wish I Was Important To Someone... With All My Greatness, Somehow...I Missed The Boat Of Life That Makes Us A Success! ! ! Maybe, Someday, I'll Meet The Right Group And Become Somebody Great As I Feel Destin To Have Happen.
Hang in there RPLines
You're alright with me.
One thing we forgot to mention.
When you become a copier tech,
Ya Gotta Take Your LUMPS!!!
Hi Rick in Memphis, I think you are missing the point.
It's not about being recognized or counted.
That takes care of it's self when you contribute to discussions on a regular bases.
When I suggested this it was purely about stopping people from signing up just to request a free service manaul then disappearing without a trace.
In my opinion those types should go to somewhere like 'manuals4you.com' and just buy what they are after instead of being cheap skates.
