Anyone have continual HD/Controller issues with the E550?

We have been having problems continuously with our Toshiba Estudio 550 and GL1020 controller. Almost every 3 weeks or so, the software becomes corrupt. The controller locks up and will not reboot. It just sits on Starting Controller.

We have not been able to get this resolved. Multiple hard drives have been installed along with a new controller. Anyone have any experience with this?

This sounds like exactly a problem I've been having. A customer had a e-Studio 550 and every so often when the scan logs reached 999 the controller would crash and we would have to re-format / re-install the software on the hard drive. Since then things have gotten worse and the controller won't boot at all now even after re-installing the software.

Try using a Western Digital HDD as it is more reliable than the originals that came with the controllers (Maxtor). Just make sure you set it up for Master, not cable select and install the latest System Software as it will solve the problem with the scan logs locking it up.
