EAEO code MJ1023 on E-450

This code came up last month. Tech went up and found that the front staple would time out on the third set. No indention on paper. Double staples and rear staples never miss. After flashing finisher board to V26, and then replacing the board with a V26 version, still not working. I went up yesterday to check it, and it will not make any copies on front staple, but the others work. Unit has 750k on it.

Any ideas?

on the delivery tray is a sensor for paper present
the machine won't staple if this sensor won't indicate is paper there to be stapled and is not an error code

Check the front home position sensor for the stapler...
