Toshiba 3040, 3540, 4540c "wait" problem solved
Hi guys I'm new to the whole repair thing but I'd thought I share my story. So we had a client who had an estudio 4540c that was giving him a wait message when copying and printing. It would copy 8 pages wait for 2-3 min then copy 8 and so on. We tried everything changed the fuser, put new firmware but nothing seemed to work. Finally we tried to see what other ppl had said about the same issue. Some said it was the voltage and so forth but it didn't work for us. A buddy of mine came up with the solution when he told us to try and clean the sensor lens under the fuser unit which worked like magic. Here's what we did. When you take out the fuser unit there's a metal rectangular box under it with two holes on top. You take that out by taking the screws out on each side. Make sure you hold it because it will fall when you take the screws out. When you take it out you will see the two lens. There is a screw which holds each of them in place. Loosen the screw a little aND you can lift the lens case up. Make sure you don't touch the lens but clean the lens with a cloth gently. Do each one and put the set up back in place. When we opened it up there was a lot of black toner which was the problem. The lens couldn't read the fuser so it couldn't tell if it was hot or not thus the wait message. I hope this helped you guys out and excuse me if I don't know the lingo I'm new to the repair community. Good luck guys!
