Working on a Toshiba E2540C with the error CEC2. I am not a new tech but was wondering if anyone has had this error and what it was for them.
I know what the error means but was looking for the most likely issue.

The most common cause I've seen is the one-way bearing/gear that attaches to the shaft for the 2nd transfer plunger assembly wears out. It may not be evident from looking, but if you clean up the shaft where the gear attaches and put a new gear on it should fix the problem. More recently I've seen that error because of a faulty sensor that detects the flag attached to the shaft. It's the sensor type that there was a bad batch of and have been causing all of us major headaches!
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?
I found the issue..... lol the registration motor actually fell off.... the rubber that is glued to the bracket that is screwed to the frame separated from the motor itself... bet that has never happened before...lol
Actually it's happened many times. Usually it doesn't fall completely off. You start to get a buzzing noise intermittently, when the drive gears disengage periodically. The shock mount you will get as a replacement is changed from 6mm to 10mm thick. It's the same motor used on the 2500/3500/3510/2040/2540/3040/3540/4540.
The one-way gear that arnh79 describes usually causes CEC0 codes.

A piece of 3/16" luan makes a nice spacer in a pinch, and it's more durable. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
