    E-Studio 281c scan-to-network failure to create file

Hello everyone, I've been trying to solve this issue for days, maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

We've recently upgraded a clients server to a new one running windows server 2012 R2. The scaned files are supposed to go into a folder called 05 Scans. The network path we're using in the settings is \\192.168.180.200\Daten\05 Scans. The copier is configured with a static ip, correct gateway and DNS.

First we tried to have it log in with the admin account and added the domain name to be safe. Then we created a user "scan" and gave it access to the folder. We even gave full access to everyone. It always comes up with the "failed to create file" (might not be the exact wording, I translated it).

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Am I right in the fact the IP address is for the server?

Try the full path to the scan folder
    IE...

    \\192.168.180.200\users\public\daten\05 scans

Check and see if there is anything between the ip and the daten folder.

Also it maybe an smb signing issue and newer firmware is needed.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

The Path is correct, there is nothing missing. The server is is a virtual machine, could be causing the problem?

So I guess we'd have to contact a certified dealer to get the firmware upgraded?

user function > admin > list reports > list > function list

Look in upper right of the print out for firmware version. If the last 3 numbers are 356 you have the latest.

Is the ip address that of the virtual machine or the virtual server itself?

I'll check the version tomorrow. It's the ip of the virtual server itself.

Recently just encountered similar scan error "Failed to create file" on e2500c when scanned from MFP to NAS server. It might be due to firewall issue which blocked the MFP.

The folder you are scanning to needs to be on the ACTUAL SERVER MACHINE--a physical hard drive....not a virtual hard drive or drive image!!!....and shared to the virtual machine(s)!!!

Any time you are asking an MFP to traverse the virtual world and find the folder, good luck!...you're asking for more problems than answers!!!

    SIMPLIFY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!

Thanks, but the server structure has to stay and our client doesn't want to files anywhere else. We tried using a FTP instead of SMB, but that failed aswell. Probably for the reasons you mentioned. For the time being we'll use the internal storage.

We'll get the firmware upgraded the next time a toshiba technician is there for maintenance. Maybe afterwards it will work.
