E studio 477sl Noisy Doc feeder

This model has the loudest doc feeders I have heard, even when new it was loud. They will feed about any thickness document though, which is a plus i guess... Anyhow the drive gear on the ADF take up and feed roller assembly does not mesh well with it's counter part on the rear of the ADF drive assembly. There seems to be no adjustment whatsoever to improve (tighten) the engagement of these gears, other than holding down the rear of the ADF top cover. Is there a modification or something else that I am unaware of?

There's a bulletin on that. There's a new style top cover with an alignment notch that prevent the gears from disengaging. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

The bulletin describes loosen the four screws that attach the rollers to the top cover, push upwards as tight as you can and re tighten. This small adjustment will make the gear teeth mesh together better if they have seperated over time.
