    MJ-1104 intermittent stapling problem

MJ-1104 with punch unit. Only seen it happen twice. Once all the sheets weren't paddled down to stapling position. Other time it appeared to catch on something on the operator side(didn't arrive flat. Hard to explain without you seeing it.

Take a look at the stopper at the front of the stapling tray. You can see in the second photo where there is a sound damping pad that gets sticky over time. Some techs just remove the pad (and adhesive). I take it a step further and install a thick mylar in it's place, like one of those old control panel stickers in Chinese or Korean.

Sorry. I never know when the photos will flop over on their side. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
