    toshiba e-studio 280 fimware

I'm having lots of network issues, primarily have to restart the printer 6 or 7 printer a day as it stops responding to network prints (can't ping it) Its also unable to print more than 2 A3 prints without putting a job into suspend, any one know what that mean?

I guessing this problem would be fixed with a firmware update its currently running Firmware version t371sy0e300 M-rom ver 371m-12 and s-rom ver 371s-06

Can anyone provide with a link to updated firmware, I'm guessing this would fix the problem or am I wrong?

We're running it with the PCL6 driver if that helps!

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Ed

Ed, check your driver and make sure that port is set up correctly.
If it's OK you may enter service mode 08 and try to initialize NIC settings to factory defaults code is 693 (you will lost your network settings).
Firmware update is very uncommendable if you are not a tech, in fact you may easy kill your machine to the point from that only Toshiba tech can recover.

Hold down 0 and 8 and power on.
Wait about 10 seconds, release 0 and 8, input 693, then Start, initialize.
Power off and on, set again network settings.
I heard that network cards on these are not unseen to goes bad.
If you are qualified tech Firmware update may be one of the first things to try, but if end user I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm sure I would be able to cope with a copier firmware update I've worked on a fair many embedded devices in my life... I hear I just need to pop them on the harddrive in a specified directory ? Could some one provide with the firmware? Please!

decimal is giving you some really good advice ... you should not attempt a firmware update on this model without some training on it. It is not as plug-n-play like updates are on other brands out there. During the update process data is written to several different boards and to the HDD as well.

tsbservice mentioned that the NIC could be bad. NIC's are a common failure on this model and that is the direction I would go in.

ok so I guess if the NIC is bad, it can't be fixed with a firmware update and I'll have to get a technician to replace the part?

That would be the best thing to do. The good part is that on that model the NIC is separate from the system board; on later models it is integrated. So the part should not be too expensive. If I were to make the repair I would charge 262.00 for the NIC plus labor. Compare that the the system board with the integrated NIC and the part would be 890.00 from me. So you shouldn't feel too bad.

Plus, if you call in a technician then he might be able to do a more thorough job of troubleshooting and discover the issue can be resolved without parts (although I doubt it).
