Cus. called to report this problem. Said it has happened three times in the last couple of days. Won't be going until Tues. but if anyone has an idea I would appreciate it. I have none.

I had this on a Kyocera KM-5551ci, losing the IP address typically (3) times a week. Changing the main controller board solved this issue.
Or it could be something a whole lot simpler. Let's say the eS4520C is set to DHCP, the drivers are directed to an IP address, and they shut the machine off every night. The DHCP server could re-assign that original IP address to something else, and assign a different address to the MFP. That leaves you with three possible solutions:
1) Don't shut the copier OFF.
2) Assign the MFP a static IP address outside the range of DHCP.
3) Assign the hostname as port in the drivers (assuming that DHCP is functioning correctly).
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Unplug the network cable. Ping the copier's IP address. If you get a reply, there is another device on the LAN with the same IP address causing a conflict with the copier.
Assign the copier a static IP address. Change the IP port on each PC printing to the copier to the new IP address.
From this point is the customer's IT problem if they have one, another device on the network is picking up your IP.
Defects are simple, our mind is complicated
So you end up with something like this?:
Static
0.0.0.0
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
Three possibilities:
1) HDD. Are you getting corrupted addressbook entries also? Any Fxxx codes? You might try a re-format and reload firmware.
2) SRAM
3) or System Board.

Blackcat that is what I get. I couldn't figure what is making ip go to "O" if it is a conflict issue. Will try a firmware update and see what happens.
To state the obvious, the e4520c is an old box that is really not worth putting parts into. Time to upgrade the customer into current technology like a shiny new e4505AC.
