    Toshiba E-256 E220 Error

Just picked this up off lease. Everything works fine but the 2nd tray. Paper feeds up to the registration switch and stops. The first tray and the LCT work perfectly fine. The paper in the cassette is set for the correct size also. The transport clutches click in 03 test mode. Looking for a few suggestions on this one. Thanks in advance

IIRC, this is simple fix. It's either the rubber registration roller or the rubber vertical feed roller that's not gripping the paper and delaying passage. Start by cleaning the rubber registration roller and rubber vertical path roller with an orange oil based cleaner like D-ink or Contractor De-Sol-Vit.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

You can try swapping the entire paper tray lift mechanism from Tray 1 to Tray 2. See if the error follows the tray.

Pull out the paper tray. Remove the white stopper with one screw.

Open the side door feed cover.

Remove one screw to pull out the entire lift mechanism. Clean the rollers as per the advise above.

As the copier is off lease, 50/50 the tech who worked on this copier before you already did this and you just inherited his problem.

Although not related to this problem. Check the firmware. It should be at V2140.

Beware to check for Red Dot/ Yellow Dot/ No dot dot stickers located under the front right corner of the glass so as to get the correct firmware. The wrong firmware will ruin your day.

    Re: Toshiba E-256 E220 Error

Thanks for the replies guys. I did all suggested before I posted this thread including firmware etc. Was looking to try the transport clutch and then went back to basics as suggested cleaning the transport rollers. I found there was a sticky film on them from something. Didn't look bad to the eye, but once you touched them my fingers stuck fast. Rookie mistake and makes you feel pretty stupid. I have been doing this long enough to know better. Thanks again
