    Toshiba HDD w/ wipe technology

I was curious if you can put a HDD with the same specs in a Toshiba machine but without the wipe technology.

MQ01ABU032W would be the one I was interested in.
    Some Okidata machines use them.

If the Toshiba came with a wipe techonology drive than you should replace it with one. That being said, Tech bulletin TSB 178 Rev. 08 lists different combos of HDD,s for each model line.

In defense of the Wipe Drives, they seem to be lasting much longer now that the firmware has been changed. Up until about a year ago I was using 10 of these drives a month. Nowadays I change maybe 1 drive a month, often wrecked by power outages, yanking out the plug, or improper shutdowns. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If you are asking, can I successfully replace an original Toshiba MQ 320 GB drive with a similar 320 GB drive from a different vendor, the answer is no.

It might be tempting if you do not have quick access to a Toshiba original MQ drive or you are trying to save some money but it will not work.

Best practice is to always have a Toshiba original MQ drive in stock. They do go on back order once in awhile or your customer is in a panic and expects you to fix the copier under a four hour service response contract.

I also do not think you can pull the drive from a Toshiba copier in stock and put the drive in a different copier as this violates the Secure HDD built in protections when the HDD sees a different Mac address.

With the eBN product line, I have seen a dramatic decline in HDD failures compared to the previous eBX product line.

I remember all those e2550c series came with 8GB SSD drive, where we need to replace 320GB ADI HDD and enable some 08 codes...

    .

Yes you can, you have to format the drive which is what creates a new ADI Key then load firmware.

Yes that was pretty much it. There was a big difference in prices looking around on eBay etc...
