I have a toshiba E456 stuck on checking system. I Replaced the "wipe" hard drive not the regular sata. Format drive, format admin password. Update firmware went through. Cannot
get into mode 08 to initialized. Can this be a board issue. Thank you for your help.
Does this machine have a fax?...if so disconnect it and see if it boots, or unplug one option at a time , i had the same thing with the fax being bad
Is it a new Wipe Drive? The "Checking System..." message is almost always the HDD.
I think that I'd try formatting the drive one more time and try again. If it still gives the message, I'd try a different drive. It could possibly be a System Board problem, I'd say that it's 75% drive, 20% system board, 5% ... something else. It sounds like you've got the procedure correct.

2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
