Toshiba e232 scan to email not working with Gmail

I am back again; I had previously solved my issues with the copier not scanning to email and then the company added Gmail as a filter on our email accounts. So if I log into Gmail using my domain name, I get the Gmail account with all my emails. We typically use Outlook on the workstations because everyone is used to it.
Now the copier won't scan to email.

Our vendor recently updated the firmware, as we are thinking the conflict with Gmail has been solved by the new firmware, but I cannot get it to work. I have done a lot of back-and-forth through Top Access trying different combinations of settings, ports, etc. and I haven't hit on the right one yet. We just use it as a copier & fax machine right now, but would like to scan-to-email (not receive emails).

The gmail account is set to "Less secure apps - ON".

    This is what I have:

    MFP05133780
    e-Studio 232

Error Mode: ST125B ; Failed to connect to SMTP server

    Enable SMTP Client Enable
    Enable SSL Disable
    SSL/TLS
    SMTP Server Address smtp.gmail.com
    POP Before SMTP Disable
    Authentication Disable
    Login Name dhatton@mciplastics.com
Maximum Email / InternetFax Size 30 MB
    Port Number 465

I have the SMTP server disabled because I thought it should be enabled only if I plan to receive emails somehow.

    nable SMTP Server Disable
    Port Number 465
    Email Address smtp.gmail.com
    Enable OffRamp Gateway Disable
    OffRamp Security Enable
    OffRamp Print Enable

    Enable POP3 Client Disable
Enable SSL Accept all certificates without CA
    POP3 Server Address pop.gmail.com
    Authentication NTLM/SPA
    Type POP3 Login Auto
    Account Name dhatton@mciplastics.com
    Scan Rate 5 Minutes
    Port Number 995
    SSL Port Number 995

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Gmail's Default SMTP Settings
    Gmail SMTP server address: smtp.gmail.com.
Gmail SMTP username: Your Gmail address (e.g. example@gmail.com)
Gmail SMTP password: Your Gmail password.
    Gmail SMTP port (TLS): 587.
    Gmail SMTP port (SSL): 465.

also under security you have to turn on less secure apps

Looks like your ssl is off and Authentication is disable

    Thanks for your help,

    TCD.

Any one setting is not correct will fail.
Also recheck gateway and dns settings
if gateway is not correct no outbound emails
If dns is not correct machine can't resolve host name like smtp.gmail.com only hard Ip addresses

If you have access to toshiba FYI, follow the procedure

    login
click tech-to-go, upper left corner of page. it will open up another page
In the upper bar you will find "knowledgebase" click that
    Step 1:Select Color copier
    Step 2:select e-studio4520c
Step 3: Product knowledge, opens anohter screen

Firmware tab is usually highlighted, scroll down to "USB Countermeasure Firmware"

That is the firmware you will need, email countermeasure firmware 36A

One other option is scan ONLY to gmail users is
    smtp aspmx.l.google.com

    Port 25
    Authentication none
    TLS not required
    No ssl
    Dynamic IPs allowed
Mail can only be sent to Gmail or G Suite users.

Thayer is correct. Without the Countermeasure firmware, you are a dead duck using Gmail. This is an old copier discontinued in 2008. No newer firmware is coming. If scan to email is important to you, could be time to upgrade the copier to a e2508A.

The e232 copier is on Toshiba's no longer supported list for toner and parts.

Put a bullet in the copier and move on.

I’m not sure but maybe you should convert outlook into gmail? I faced similar problem and I spent hours looking for appropriate utility to solve my issue. Luckily, I’ve found program that helped me to migrate thunderbird to outlook get redirected. It can split output PST file to multiple fragments of predefined size. BTW, they have transfer for gmail to outlook. I think it will be helpful for you.
