    eStudio 357 F101_4 error

    Hey gang,

I've got a Toshiba I'm going to see in the morning with a hard drive (F101) error. I'm going to attempt to recover the partition, but if that fails I know I'll need to replace the HDD. Can someone point me to the correct system firmware?

    Thanks in advance!

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Attempted the recovery steps in the Service Manual... it came up ONCE after initializing the /work partition, then crashed again. F101, F105 and F106 errors. Guess the hard drive is next.

It was only after I spent an hour working on the machine, when someone said.... "Oh yeah....we forgot to tell you we had a major power outage just before the copier threw the error!!"|

.....I'm not really an artist, so I can't draw anyone a picture of what my "shocked face" looks like.... so you'll just have to use your imagination.

I would have given them the " ARE you fucking kidding me? NOW you tell me this?" face. Always assume the customer either 1) lied 2) forgot to give COMPLETE information P.S. you can use those same assumptions when dealing with the boss man ;-)

U should format HDD and install System Software (HD data) *firmware.
If u lucky enough, no need to replace HDD.
Stick to the service manual troubleshooting steps.

If the pending sector count C5 in HDD SMART Info (08-9065 or in 5C mode) is 1 or more then HDD needs replacement, formatting it is just a matter of time until the error comes back to you.
Defects are simple, our mind is complicated

This SMART info just a reference…I've encountered many cases both value is 0 but still need to replace HDD.

One reason I love the MFP Mobile Diagnostics tool and the Cloud Connect...You should have seen "OFF" in the power section of the data collection, letting you know they had a power failure once you recovered it enough to power on and export the CSV's..also useful as proof of power failures or crappy power when machine eat HDD's
