Post Toshiba e-Studio 35 Firmware updates

I have two customers I need to update their firmware for error messages.
The one customers error is CA1
The other I do not have I will have to go back to the customer to get that. But what is happening there it will copy for 5-30 or so copys then stops and if you power off it will work again for a few copies. I was told that maybe a firmware would fix it.
Does anyone have them or know where to get them. As of yet I have never updated firmware. So any hints or help would be apprecated.
I have been to Toshiba's web page and downloaded drivers and am not sure this is what I need. So any help please.

Thank You
Gary

power off
hold down 0 and 8
power on
253
you will see the last 8 errors
E71 to E74 are document feeder errors
E01 and E02 are related to fuser
E12 to E18 are feed error

I don't think a firmware update will fix them.

The ca1 code is the laser. If you put on v19 you can adjust the rotation period that it stays on for. There are mods that you can put on, earthing plates and a new link that goes into the logic, normally a new laser is the only sure cure.
The other problem is the power supply, there is a capacitor that can be replaced but unless ou have the original instructions, you might blow the board,so just order new.

On the CA1. It IS best to just replace it. However, to answer your question a little more comprehensively let me give you a little more information. First off, the update requires the the Main firmware be at 11 or higher. The easiest way to update firmware is with the firmware jigs. There are two of them and they look like this:

The one on the left is for the logic and scanner boards and the one on the right is for the system board. the part numbers are:
44205829000 K-PWA-DLM-320
44205828000 K-PWA-DLS-320
Now you need to load the jigs with the appropriate firmware which comes on ROMS. Insert the appropriate ROM on the appropriate jig, and install per the instruction in the service handbook. The part numbers for the most recent ROM's is as follows:

The bottom one is the SCAN rom.

As for the updating the laser, if you should decide to try it. First you need the following parts:

Then install thus:

I hope this helps. Good luck, and when you get a chance post that other code you are getting on that other machine.

CA1 Fix

We have been taking the Laser out and sanding the screw, the side of the board, and the bottom of the board where the screw comes out, soldering a little bit of solder to screw, then the board edge, then to the bottom, as you get used to this, it will start to look very good, and you will never have this issue again, unless the laser dies... most of the time this is a grounding issue, and the laser throws up a code, you can reseat the screw, but it will come back, solder is cheap... I picked this up off another site, and it has worked very well....

CA1 kits usually work. Make sure you install all parts even the little ground screw. I used to carry around a used laser when I had a lot of them out in the field.

You are right - I have 100% successfully get rid of ca1 when I use that kit for grounding!
