what is the difference between e16&e16s?

If I am not mistaken (and I know I will get corrected if I am wrong) I believe one is user serviceable and the other is not.

Your correct. The e16 had the process kit PU1600N and was sealed. The e16s had a process kit of PU1600s and you could take it apart. There was a flash jig to update a 16 to a 16s and get rid of the drum warning when replacing with a PU1600s or servicing it (08 673) Anyway the PU1600s was replaced by the PU1610s which got rid of the drum shutter. There was also many fuser mods.

HI,

I have additional information. eS16 as known as CRU (customer replacement unit) in this model you must change process unit one whole thing! as we know Process unit. It must be expensive, right? therefore Toshiba release eS16S as known SRU (serviceman replacement unit). In this model you can change process unit in separately. as describe before in this model you can reset "maintenance drum" by using 08-673. But it will not work in previous model. you must upgrade the firmware first. And the PU is diffrent in eS16 the PU using is PU-1600 DNN but in eS16s PU 1600 DSN or PU-1610 DSN. Because in eS16 when "Maintenance drum" appear only can be reseted by using PU-1600 DNN.
