I have a Toshiba e-studio25 with built in fax the line level is 5dB to soft or to low how can i adjust this.
I have found that it is under :-
- service mode 1-3 ,
- then *#**
- Choose maintenance
- Test 05
- Maintenance
- Set 02
- Then function
- V28 modem is function28 and V14 modem is function 4

apparently one has to change bits 7,6,5,4 but I don't have any information on what cobination of bits dose what. Can anyone help.. Thanks.

0000 is all four bits 4,5,6,7 all set to zero (bits 0123 don't matter)
1111 is all four bits 4,5,6,7 all set to one

Using binary you can count from 0 to 15.

For example, to set 3 dB you would set bit 6 and 7 to one:
0011

An example of 5 dB would be 0101 (bits 5 and 7 to one)
An example of 6 dB would be 0110 (bits 5 and 6 to one)
