C471 in RioGrande

Hi all,
exceessive calls for C471 in e-600 mahcines.
have more than one case for mchines with 300-500K counters.


already checked the thermofuse,the thermistor from the our engineer,

other than the electricity voltage check is there any thing special to worry about?.

We also fighting some ghost fuser error codes on these.They varies from C447, C467, C471. A few things to check I' m sure you checked obvious-thermistors, thermostat, fuser rolls and so on...blah-blah.
1.There is a new style IH board.
2.Check connectors-4 pieces, something like piece of paper or any dust, cracks, bend pins, arching.
3. Clean all off them with canned air and spray them with contact cleaner.
4. Make sure there is no play between transfer/fuser drawer and machine frame.
5. Last but not least...PRAY

C471 on a RIO is usually the connector that runs through the duplexer to the back of the machine under the fuser. It has a plug to the IH. Check the terminal it runs too and the one in the back of the machine that matches with it. I have had 3 RIO's in the last 6 months code out C471 and the plug under the fuser in the back of the machine was trashed.

Coupling connector on the back, broken due to excessive pressureor because of any paper jammed in the withdrawal operation.

there is a connector within the fuser unit accessible when u take out the top and side red cover. this loosens when you are changing the hot rollers. check it. it sorted out ghost problems.

I came across this on an eS523 last week. There is a push switch operated by an arm at the rear of the fuser. It cuts the AC power to the IH board, and connects directly to that lower connector on the rear frame.

If you develop resistance in the switch of 0.9 ohms or more when it's closed, you get intermittent C471 errors

If the switch is good, but not fully actuated by the ear on the fuser, you'll get C446_7, C467_7, C467_24. When the plunger on the push switch is fully released it's ~8mm. When the push switch is just being made it's at 5.5mm. When the push switch is fully compressed it's 3mm. So anywhere from 4.5mm to 4.0mm when actuated is desirable. Anything greater than 5.5mm is open. 5.0mm to 5.5mm gives errors, resistance anywhere from 0.9 to 179 ohms. There doesn't seem to be a simple adjustment here. I cut some rectangular spacers to slip over the push switch to space it out 1.0mm closer to the front, to the actuator. At first I was operating the push switch with my finger, but that doesn't tell you anything about how it's actuated. Remove the switch leads, clip on your meter, then actuate the switch with the drawer.

As BlackCat says, the push type switch on the inside of the rear frame cuts the AC voltage to the IH board.
What you can do is, there's a metal tab that sticks out of the back of the fuser unit, it has a small hole on the side, you can extend that tab by screwing a slightly longer piece of metal on to it.

However, the other thing you can do is "reform" the frame that the button switch is attached to (unscrews from the rear frame after taking the logic board off) as it's usually very slightly bowed.
