Toshiba 3511 slit glass

How do you clean the laser slit glass on the Toshiba 3511? I am having trouble getting the drum out also. Does the transfer unit have to come out first before the drum unit? Thanks for your help...

Remove the left side cover that covers the color developers.

Remove the back cover and the LGC board cover.

Now below the developers remove two screws that are holding the laser's black cover and remove the cover.

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the logic board that runs down to the laser then pull the connector on through toward the laser.

Disconnect the other connector and slide it out the same way.

Remove one screw from the laser unit, then lift up slightly on the laser and slide it on out.

The laser slit glass is on the laser unit, and this is the best way to get to it on this model.

For the drum unit.

Remove the waste toner box and the two small gray covers behind it.

Remove the screw and connector from the K developer unit and slide the developer unit on out.

On the transfer unit there are two recessed screws which need to be completely loosened:

Remove three screw from the transfer assembly:

Rotate lever counter-clockwise and lock with screw:

Remove three screws and two connectors and slide the drum unit on out:

You do not need to remove the transfer assembly to remove the drum unit.

Hey THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

I have the service manual from just manuals and it didn't quite show all of that. That was obviously were I was going wrong, I wasn't taking the transfer screws out before releasing the lever.

I had no idea it was that labor intensive to go through all that to get to the laser slit glass. With a Ricoh the slit glass sinmply pulls out from the front of the machine, swipe it and then carry on... That's o.k though being they pay me labor by the hour and it gives me a great opportunity to vaccum everything out well.

Again, thanks a billion on how to get to everything...
