you tried updating with usb? & it came up with " update failed "?
what level firmware did you try? & most importantly what version was the machine on to start with? if it was pre V200 & you put a new version on, you may have caused yourself a headache. there are 2 ways to normally get out of this, one is to put V200 on a usb stick, load that, then load a later version ( step the firmware up ), the other is with the JIGS.
FSMS can be a bit hit & miss & i wouldn't contemplate using it personally.

Depending on the FW error you are getting, it is my understanding that 3+C #1 clears the flags that cause a particular FW error to not clear. Someone may correct me if I am wrong, I know on the new series #1 is relabeled a more fitting title along the lines of what I am talking about. Just a shot in the dark, I have never had to do this but if all else fails might be worth a try.

-HTH

More info

Machine flags a C410 error after a updated failure, replace with another chip, it flags f100 changed the hard drive, comes up and loads toner forever, ran update using FSMS screen comes up update ok, the copier screen says updating HDD, then fails does not matter what I update, the ROM.BIn or the 1,2,3,n,n, f then flags the C410 error....

how can I get the jigs, I do not thing we can order them.. so there has to be another way....

Does the replaceable chip on either board go bad via an update, and require replacement or just re-write the rom....

I'll admit I know nothing about using FSMS to update. But when you replaced the HDD did you run 3+C #3, then #2 before updating FW?
