Wink Toshiba eStudio 25 NIC Module

One of our subsidiary companies was suckered into a lease (WAY overpriced) for an eStudio 25. The lease is now up, and I negotiated a buy-out of the unit to try using it as a printer. One of the downsides of the lease agreement was that the company paid for a NIC module to be installed. It seems to be there, but has never functioned. It lights up the way it should, but the 'Network' options settings in the copier setup menu is greyed out.

Is there any way to activate the NIC module? I saw reference to the '08' service mode, code 693?

Hi,

Does your machine has printer board? You cannot use the mahcine as printer network if you don't have printer board. other wise use your parallel cable printer as GDI print than share from there.

thank you and regards

I'll be sharing the printer through parallel until I can get the networking figured out.

I'll assume by 'printer board' you're referring to the network module? The system doesn't have the fax module, or much else plugged into it, but at the bottom there is a 2-board plug-in module with the RJ-45 network jack that is present. That was more my question, is there any other hardware that is required? Or should it just be a software code at this point?

Jawir means that you might not have PCL board (GA-1030 or GA-1031). Without that board Network board GF-1110 availability is in vain. PCL board is mounted on the MAIN PWA - remove back cover (~ 15 screws) and look at the center botom side of the machine. There you can see if it is present - board connected to the Main PWA and connector coming to PCL board from parallel interface board. If you don't have PCL board you can use copy machine for a local gdi printer (connected via parallel interface) and share driver in network.

I'll take a look, but my schedule is REALLY swamped these days. How readily (and cheaply) available are the PCL boards?

That's not bad. I'll see if I can find one if I have time over the next month or so... Thanks!

When I removed the back cover, I think there were only three screws that were actually holding it on.

PCL is holding by two screws on the bottom. Disconnect cable coming from parallel port to MAIN board and connect to PCL board. Make sure you are using pcl driver when PCL board is installed. Set print to TCP/IP port either
1. RAW - 10001
2. LPR - PORT1

I just looked again. So it looks like there are two 'main' boards, one on top of the other. The top board has some expansion slots and a few empty connectors, the largest being one labelled 'PCON' at the bottom middle of the board. The double Network adapter cards are plugged into a connector at the bottom-right-hand side.

WAY down below is a board that has a chip labelled '1030', but this looks to be the controller PCL for the paper trays.

Where can I source the GA-1031 for 50 Euros? Everywhere I look the price is around 400 Euros or more for a new one...
