Toshiba 4511 won't print color

Hi, I have been working on this for hours. I installed the drivers 15 ways from sunday. The PCL5c should do color, but the PSL3 seems to be popular too - but neither will print color. What i get instead (on a windows test page) is a black windows logo and then a group of big black boxes. When I use the PSL3 I only have the black and white option and when I print out the Window's test page it says "Color Support: NO" - but it prints color (the counter says it has printed 119,000 color pages) It's a 4511 for crying out loud!!! Help!!!

I'm assuming it will copy in color correct? A couple things you might try:

Load drivers on a different computer, I usually use PS drivers PCL5c is ok also though.
Reload firmware/Blow out hard drive (3Clear)
HDD or Sys board?

Just things I would probably look at, having never seen it it's hard to say. Sounds like a software/board issue being it is printing out weird boxes.

HTH.

Make sure that you definately aren't using the PCL6 driver as this is B&W only.

Next, try using the print queues that are available on the machine through the SMB queue.

i.e. \\printeripaddress\ps3

These are installed locally on the device and should be defaulted to colour. If that doesn't work for you, then definately go down the firmware path.

Yes, it copies color just fine. I did install the drivers fresh on another computer and used the \\192.168.0.50\PS3 route but still nothing.

How do I reload the firmware? And how do I "blow out" the hard drive (3Clear)?

"Load drivers on a different computer, I usually use PS drivers PCL5c is ok also though.
Reload firmware/Blow out hard drive (3Clear)
HDD or Sys board?"

Thanks,
Ryan

Were you originally installing the drivers via TCP/IP port or always through the SMB queue?

THe first time I did it like I normally do: Install it as a local machine and then add a tcp/ip port and apply it. But later I uninstalled that and installed through the utility that found the machine automatically and it was smb

Sorry I am unable to supply you with firmware but once you have it, you put in on a flash drive and put that drive into the machine. Then power up the machine holding 4+9 after it's done you do codes 08-947, 690 (input 2, enter), then 1190 (saves nic settings.) You could try 08-693 which will reset all NIC settings to defaults. On a more drastic scale 08-669 will reset all of your 08 codes to defaults. After doing 669 you will probably want to do 08-692 to recalibrate your touch panel, just touch the crosses with a pen.

Could any part of this be something easy like my service pack on my computer??? I'm running XP, or is this all to do with the machine itself?

More than likely to be the machine.

If you have everything set to colour in your print driver, then the machine should be doing as it is told. Not selecting B&W.
