ES 65 works, SC-2 Works, do not talk to each other anymore

I have a Toshiba eStudio 65 with the SC-2 Scan Controller and scan dongle. Frankly I no longer use it to copy, but do need and use the scanning capabilities.

The copier works. It will copy. The SC-2 works, I can reach it via network from my PC and reset the controller, etc. However... the two no longer can talk to each other.

The copier can not find the SC-2 and if I give the SC-2 any command for the copier, it says "Connection with printer lost".

There was some sort of electrical event overnight as a few other electrical devices in the office reset (and are fine). So... putting 2 and 2 together I am wondering if:

1) Could I be so lucky as to have only the communications board (Serial/SCSI??) board be bad?
2) Any other ideas?

Any thoughts on a test I can run, or do I need a special board (It does not look like it)?

Would it be better for me to replace the SC-2 - and if so... how do I go about that (availability, etc)?

Any help would be much appreciated.

This smells like network problem not a machine one. Can you print something like Printer/Network > Test Pages > Config Page?

If Yes - change network cable, switch port ... etc.

If No - Reconnect controller, re-flash controller software, change HDD and re-flash controller software.

Get Toshiba specialist.

Thank you for your response. I don't think it is a network issue. I can reach the SC-2 controller via the network. The SC-2 controller responds to commands via the network - and it attempts to print from the network - but won't because the SC-2 can not reach the copier... in fact the SC-2 even sends feedback regarding that back to the remote computer via the network... so I do not think it is the Network. I can reach the SC-2 controller via the network. The SC-2 can not reach the copier.

As for my local Toshiba tech people... they are terrible at anything that is not mechanical. They do fine with rollers and fingers and fuses and that sort of thing... but are terrible at anything electronic. I am located in a large city - but there is only one company that does Toshiba repair.

I am thinking - because the SC-2 seems to work just fine and the copier works just fine - that is could be the scsi card that the SC-2 uses to communicate with the copier.

Further thoughts?

I am sorry to hear that there is no reliable colleagues in your aria. But my experience shows 99,99% of network, controller software or HDD problems on SC-2 (GL-1020). For the other 0,01% I have just heard and you will need professional assistance.

One more suggestion - try to reset controller to factory defaults and re-set all of the network data (Printer > Admin > Factory defaults). Don't forget to print network settings beforehand!

In any case also try to install driver on fresh copy of windows and check out printing.

And finally you may look for another SC-2.
