Unhappy Toshiba E-Studio 352 firmware installations

Have the above mention copier, had a Maxtor 40GB HDD in the shop and when ahead and installed it. try to do the ON - 3 + Clear procedure, option 3 and give me an error

Need to know if there is a procedure to installing the HDD.

This HDD was formatted before installment.

Thanks,
Rad

I believe that requires an 80 gig hard drive.
Other then that check the jumpers are set for either cable select or master.

352 HDD replacement

When I do an HDD replacement I do clear+3-nvram flags clear, clear+3-intialize hdd, clear+3-partition. Update firmware with usb. Do an 08-690, reformatt\ hdd. Do 08-1119 if ntwk connected to restore network settings, if not 08-692, then do 08-947 which sets your new new firmware. Done. 352's use a 40gHDD as standard but will work with an 80g.

Hmm, and why 692 - panel calibration. I suppose you are doing 693 - network initializing.

HDD must be at least 40Gb. Originally it is 40 Gb. But I have had successfully used 80 Gb HDDs.

Procedure:

(1) Create partitions. (In case of using the download jig, this is not necessary.)
While pressing [3] and [CLEAR] button, turn the power ON.
When “Firmware Version Up Mode” appears on the LCD, key in [3] and press the [START] button.
(2) Format the HDD. (Setting Mode (08-690: 2))
(3) Update with the download jig or USB storage.
See 􀀉 P. 6-1 "6. FIRMWARE UPDATING" for details.
(4) Format the HDD. (Setting Mode (08-690: 2))
* When the FAX unit (GD-1150) is installed.
Start up with the FAX Clearing Mode (1*)
Perform the 1*-100 (FAX Set Up), 1*-102 (Clearing the image data) of the FAX Clearing
Mode.

You have to check your HDD in a PC if it is working at all. Also HDD must be set for cable select!

352 HDD replacement

Toshiba switched from Maxtor because of all of the issues with them and are now using Western digital. I personally would not use a used Maxtor. I have not had any issues when I install a new WD HDD.

WD is too hot. I prefer Seagate or Hitachi.
