Toshiba E-Studio 6520c

I work at a school that is mostly a Mac shop, and I am searching for a way to set the default print color to mono by editing the driver. Currently we are stuck with using a mono preset which must be chosen each time a print job is sent. Most of our staff forgets this step and we end up running up our color printing costs significantly. Does anyone out there know of way to edit the Mac OS X driver so that mono is set as the default color setting?

Many thanks in advance for any guidance,
John

Cool MAC

This is an issue with how Mac's handle printing. There are ways to edit some of the defaults, but Mac's will still handle the default settings as a template. "Default" is considered a preset that can't be saved over. Mac's will always default to the last settings that you printed with, if you have a Color preset and print with it, the next time you bring up the printer the settings in the color preset will still be set until you select another preset and print with it. This is how the Mac's print engine works.

You can set defaults in the IPP server on a mac, but you will need to use IPP to print to the copier.
