Just a few ideas: check to see that the firmware is at the latest, and that a good user name and password is entered in the save as file properties - even if it is open to everyone, it will still need to validate a login. Also, if you are scanning to an SMB name, make sure you have the DNS server set, or a WINS server specified - see if you can scan to it with it's ip address, such as
\\192.168.2.34\Scan Folder
