I think on the 230 model you still had to hold down C+8 when the jam had occurred to display the code (newer ones do it automatically.) You can go into 08+powerup mode and code 253 will display the last 20ish errors. If there really is no code you might look at top access (web interface), there are several logs there. The message log will show you every door that was opened etc, it can be pretty handy.
These are some pretty common jams:
-fuser claws out of socket E01/02
-bridge(finisher transport) sensors E910/920
-2nd transport sensor (in black guide plate below trans/sep with white pinch rollers)
-1st transport sensor 2 screws under bypass take off a plate, sensor in middle
