e-Studio 28 CCD

Hey everyone,

I'm having a problem with an e-Studio 28 popping up with a C26 error practically every time the machine boots. I've pulled the glass and optics apart for cleaning, but it looks like the CCD is just shot. The one test copy I was able to get out was almost entirely black, aside from some white line patterns that were definitely digitally generated. Any internal test prints come out just fine.

However, I'm not sure how to go about getting a CCD - I've tried a few generic google searches without much luck, and checked with a few third-party vendors I normally use (work for a Konica Minolta/Panasonic/Samsung dealership) but none of them carry it (wouldn't imagine they would anyway). Any ideas? I've heard many of the Toshiba engines are shared with Sharp machines, but am not sure if this machine is one of those. If so, I have a buddy at a Sharp dealership I could probably get one through. Any support would be appreciated!

I think we get ours from Hytec... I think. I'm not sure if you have to be a Toshiba dealer to use them for this or not.

This isn't a machine shared with Sharp (or anyone else that I know of).

Your best bet might be to look for another e-28, 35, 45 that you can strip.

This isn't common on that machine (E550 would be another story) so you can be reasonably sure that one from another machine would be OK.

Just make sure not to touch the colored screws!!!!

Part #?

I might have found what I'm looking for, but I'm only going off a description of "optics part - laser scanner unit" so I'm not sure whether or not it's really the right part. Could anyone help me out with the part # for the CCD? I'd really appreciate it - thanks!

He's probably thinking about the little Toshiba 120/162 and now 203sd series which are made by Sharp and are junk. The 203sd is not made different enough to convince me yet that it is not junk, we'll see.
