e280 & faxing

i am looking at getting a fax board for my e280.
aside from internet faxing.
will this enable me to use the copier as a regular fax machine. I.e. plug into a phone line and send and recevie faxes.

also, i use the same phone line for my phone and fax number. the difference is that my fax number has 2 long rings vs phone which is 1 ring.
therfore, where in the user manual will i find the settings to enable my copier to identify the dual ring as being a fax.

thanks.

First installing the fax boards will let you set this up as any other fax machine only bigger.
Second I do not remember this being able to distinguish between rings and will need it's own phone line to work correctly.

You are right. Fax only counts number of rings. There are several parameters concerning signals durations but I didn't play with them.

unfortunatly Toshiba does not have a TEEN or DISTINCTIVE RING setting like Sharp does..... so you will need either a second line or a Telephone Fax Ring Detection Switch Telephone Fax Ring Detection

You could also set the fax up to only answer after X number of rings. EMujo

FYI. if you are getting a new fax board from Toshiba, the MFP may have to be flashed to current levels to accept the new fax version. If its and older fax (used) you should be OK. EMujo
