Generally it must be CA1 and CA2 call for service.

I am pretty sure that there is no firmware that can help you in order to make this osmosis work.

Are you sure it is not Main board failure?

    CA1 or CA2

Firmware is mandatory for new laser unit...When you said it doesn't recognize the new one, does that mean you get the same code or something different..Does the paper start to feed before the code ??

Estudio 160 is a Toshiba Built machine. Estudio 161 is a Sharp built machine.

The motor for the 161 is exclusive for that model and not interchangeable with any other model.

You could use one from the Estudio 16/16S series if you don't have any from the 160 series.

You should also update firmware at installation.

Replace the polygon motor. It solves the problem. e-161 and e-160 are not the same so use polygon motor for the right model..

you are trying to install the e-161 on an e-160 they are completely two different models.
e-161 is sharp model and it won't work on the 160 "Toshiba" machines

CA1 is polygonal motor error , if you replace without upgrading to the proper firmware level; most probably you will get CA2.

replace the LSU "the whole laser unit" with the right one and then flash using download JIG.

    Talking

order ricoh part no. AX06 0181 (polygon motor).connector needs to be fitted with the top of the laser unit off as the connector is top mounted rather than side mounted on the original one.no firmware upgrade required if you fit this
