If I remember correctly you can remove the HDD. But someone who knows for sure might chime in, or just try it
We still have a few, but we try to weed them out when we have a call on one.

I don't know the official word. I remember hearing somewhere that you could but you'd have no memory.
Having said that, I tried it once to no avail. It would not work without a drive.
Perhaps their is an 08 code that would allow use with no drive.
I will try to get a look at the handbook and see if I find anything.
Update: The handbook is no longer on tech to go so I can't access it. Perhaps someone else who still has one can look.

I could not find such a code. In other hand there must be a part of machine's firmware on the HDD. So my opinion is that machine could not work without HDD.

HDD is only used for storage but I don't think it will run without it. 2 questions...1 did you replace it with the same size drive and jumper settings, and did you run the format command? 08/690.

i agree with emju
try 08 690 if it is not work swap the hdd out.i get a look at service manual and the 2570 the same copier have the hdd like an optional.so i think it works alo without hdd.
