| Look up some of the other threads for the GL1010/1020 if you want more detailed info, but in a nutshell...
The Gl1010 OS was origianly WIN NT, (ver 1.x.x.x), then, after the introduction of the GL1020 (Linux Redhat Ver 2.xxx) all software for the GL series was Linux ver 2.x.x.x) and was renamed GL10X0. If you are still running ver 1.xxx, you will only need a new IDE 40-80 gig HDD and the 1.XXX recovery CD. If you are running ver 2.xxx you will need a partition CD (Formats the drive for Linux) and the Linux recovery CD. All files are ISO images and must be burned to CD using a program like Deep Burner.
For the Linux based system, you replace the HDD, drop the partion CD in and power the GL up. Every thing is automatic, but you can hook a monitor up to the VGA port and watch the process, After drive is partioned, drop the recovery CD in and power up once again. The software will load and after 1 restart and up to an hour wait, you should get a config sheet out of the MFP.
For WINNT install a new HDD and power up the controller with recovery CD installed. Process takes about an hour.
The files are 2 big to email, but look at previous posts, you may find someone willing to FTP them to you. If not, contact me offline and I can assist you with the CDs. EMujo |
