toshiba 4511 problem after tbu and transfer belt cleaning unit.

We have a toshiba 4511 that needed the transfer belt and the transfer belt cleaning unit. once everything was replaced and the machine was put back together we got a [ce40] error on display. so we went ahead and correctedd the error and printed out a print counter just to see the copy quality. we noticed that almost most of the printout did not come out on the page except for two small spots. then we did a claibration, but when the calibration chart was printed out, the image looked washed out and faded. any ideas? or suggestions?

Check and see if the Transfer Belt Unit/TBU Cleaner is coming all the way down to the drum, and not hitting on something like the frame.

Transfer rollers (inside transfer belt unit) are dirty, 2nd transfer roller is bad, Developers are bad, laser glass is coated with toner, developer bias is not correct.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

sorry for the delayed response, we went ahead and put back the old tbu into the machine for the mean time since the copies are better than with the rebult one. the copies are still light in the left hand margin and are not as dark as it should be. the machine has a new drum and the black developer unit is full.

i tried to scan the printed image but it really dosent show much of the fading, its noticeable in person and more noticeable when compared to a good copy or print out.

Did you clean the laser slit glass when you had it apart?
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

WTF!!!!!! I pull out the laser unit like toshibatech said and the slit glass was foggy from the toner spill and there was 3 piles of toner on top, so after cleaning and vacuuming out the machine we did a calibration and got meter reads, and the difference was night and day. So thanks to all of the people for your input and I can now sleep comfortable, thanks for all your help.
