But how can I update the software in the hard drive after I've replaced it.

Get a new a new HDD don't bother with an old used one.

C3 -> ON: Perform 1 - 3

49 -> ON: May as well update all

08 -> ON -> 690


You can buy the firmware online maybe from Justmanuals then extract it to a USB
