Is it possible to increase the time or deactivate Automatic Function Clear?
I read the following in the manual (page 1-5 or page 20 in pdf):

Automatic Function Clear
Even if you do not press the //FUNCTION CLEAR
key, within the specified period of time after copying is
finished or after the last key is pressed in a copy
procedure, the automatic function clear mode will work
to clear all settings to defaults, and the basic screen
will be displayed. While the department management
function is being operated, the display returns to the
department code input screen.

From memory, I think it is a service code to increase the time out period.

You will need the Service Handbook for this and not the User Manual. Find Manuals4You as he has a huge range of service manuals avaiable, but make sure you get the Service Handbook.
