What is the serial port used for on the e-studio 35?

Can it be used for printing by connecting to a computer?

Can someone please shed some light on this?

Thanks

Peter

Unlikely, although I am no Toshiba authority. Most likely it is there for upgrading firmware and such.

For connecting a mouse to it. This is for when you need to access the controller directly.

Thanks for the replies guys but some advice needed...

Which controller might that be for the serial port? This machine has no additional cards installed that are obvious.

I'm in a middle of a dilema though.

I have purchased two e-studios (one for me and one for my friend)
- One is an e-studio 25 with the 1031 controller installed and fax and also has a sorter installed.
- The other is the e-studio 35 with a finisher but no controllers, fax etc

The dilema is:
I really like the e-studio 35 because of the touch screen as it seems more user friendly.
But the e-studio 25 is decked out and can print either over the network or as a stand alone unit, has fax so logic tells me to keep this.

In you opinion, which is the better unit to keep at the end of the day?

If I could get a 1010 card for the 35 for a reasonable price (to print over the network)I would choose it in a second but it seems very difficult to get a hold of.

Both have done about 400K copies.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Peter

You must buy some things

think i that you need oder some thinks.
1.GA 1040 card if i want use LPT port
2.LPT or RJ45 connect cable
or
1. GL 1010 controller
2. HHD installed os included scan
3.RJ45 connect cable
i think That will cost you another 200 $ to hit the mark
good luck

Whis is the cheapest option to be able to print over the network on the...

e-studio 35?

Which is the cheapest option the 1040 or the 1010? (not interested in fax but do like the scan option though either to e-mail or network)

I finally got a hold of the gl-1010 hardware service manual and had a good look at it.

Essentially a computer box with the bridge board to interface with the e-studio 35 and the CPU card that hooks up to the bridge board.

Initial thought was to just get a computer and hook it up to the e-35 to do the job but the bridge board stuffs things up.

If there was a way to connect the computer to the e-35 without the bridge board this can be done as cheap as anything and with infinite expandability.

Is the 1040 setup the same as the 1010 or is it just a stand alone card that plugs into the e-35?

I'm trying to get as much knowledge as possible about the expandability options on the e-35 to be able to choose which photocopier is the better value at the end of the day (plain e-35 with nice user interface or decked out e-25)

By the way, I'm also located in Australia

Thanks

Peter

that is for connecting a laptop to the machine when using FSMS. to udate firemware, set 08 & 05 codes. But it cannot be printed to. (And I have never heard of connecting a mouse to that. for the controler)
