e450 with msg." Network Initializing" quite frequently???

I have a couple of these machines, customer says they are having the message "Network Initializing" quite often, sometimes for hours at a time, have to pwr off/on throughout the day to get to copy/print/or scan.
Firmware is up to date.
The customer had their own IT dept. network these just recently, IT says everything is good to go on their end. I have zero networking knowledge - what info. can I pass on to their IT dept. to fix this issue ?
A list of steps to take or things to try would be great for me to pass on to them, Thanks

go to admin / network / IPV4 if it is set on dynamic - automatic search for IP-address to use ( network initializing will end when unit has found an IP-address to use ). set unit to static for a fix IP-address (get IP-address from their IT dept)

Funny how everything is working fine until IT changes stuff and then fobs it off back to the Copier/Printer. If it's not broke - don't fix it.
If the F/W is up to date then maybe the Drivers need to updated also however the ES450 is about 10 years old now and there may not be any new Drivers available for the Systems etc we have today. Good luck with that.

Could Also be the NIC card, ive replaced about a dozen or so. not the most reliable. Maybe try initializing as well 08-693.
Ive got a few gf1150's if it turnes out to be a faulty card.

As above, the NETSilicon network cards weren't known for reliability.

I too have replaced many of these NIC's in my time and have found that when these NIC's start showing "Network Initializing" for longer than normal periods, they are generally on the way out.

One other thing you can try is to factory reset the NIC by using the jumpers on the NIC it self:

1. Remove rear panels and NIC
2. Switch the positions of the jumper marked OP2 or FACT
3. Plug the NIC back into the machine and turn on the machine
4. Wait until the LED's on the NIC start alternating continously (better off waiting an extra minute just to make sure)
5. Turn off the machine and remove the NIC again
6. Replace the OP2 jumper back into its original position
7. Put the machine back together
8. The first time you turn the machine back on, it is normal that the NIC takes longer to Initialize for the first time.

Do the 452 and 453 also have the same unreliable NIC card problems ???

No. The 452 and later models had the NIC built right into the SYS board and they seem to be very stable. On the e450 series the NIC was a separate board that plugged into the SYS board.
