I can't seem to print embeded pictures in pdf files!

I have a Toshiba E-Studio 550 with GA1140. I just bought it used and can't figure out how to make the copier print embedded pictures in pdf files. The text prints great but the pictures are blank. I tried looking for a setting to enable this but can't seem to find out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have the right drivers loaded? delete the printer and reload the driver.

GDI printing enabled

Does your driver have a check box for "GDI printing enabled". This is available on the Kyocera print driver, and has helped out with embedded images in PDFs.

I had a 2MB PDF that blew up to almost 9MB after arrival at the printer. This helped.

Why do I get the latest driver for the E-Studio 550?

Where do I get the latest driver for the E-Studio 550? How do I check if I have the latest driver installed? I'm pretty sure I have the latest drivers installed but it doesn't hurt to check. Thanks for all your help thus far.

Blackcat - I do not have GDI checkbox anywhere on the screen. I wish I did!

Print Driver

Just Google: Toshiba e-Studio 550 print driver. There are a bunch of great websites for print drivers. I don't know if Toshiba is a native PCL printer, or a native PostScript printer. If you can try a PostScript driver, I think it may work better for you.

I got it to print my images!!!!!

Thanks for all your help! I installed the lastest driver and found the "print as image". I have two other questions. What's the difference between PCL and PCL6? Does anyone know how to scan to a PC? Once again, Thanks for all your help

I can't help with the Toshiba specific questions.

But I can help with the driver questions. There are two basic print languages: Printer Control Language (PCL) and PostScript (PS). Each language has evolved several times, in several versions.

As PCL goes: The most recent version is PCL6, but for certain applications PLC5e (black & white) or PCL5c (color) is preferred.

PostScript is generally the preferred choice for graphics applications, if your Toshiba can emulate PostScript.

The main thing to keep in mind here is that both the driver and the printer must use the same emulation. It's sort of like speaking German to an American (or vice versa).
