Toshiba 1560 - alignment problem?

I just picked up a Toshiba 1560. It appears to work ok, but, I believe the alignment is out. When I place an original on the glass, it seems to be shifted off center on the copy. Is it possible the the lenses need alignment? Is this difficult to do? Is there anywhere I can get a copy of the service codes, and/or service manual?

Check that the guides in the paper tray are set properly. They can also be adjusted front/ rear on the bottom of the tray. Paper feed registration is 05-53. Good luck.

The paper guides appear to be good, but I'll re-check them. How do I access the paper feed registration?

Feed levers are Toshiba's name for the plastic pieces thet hold the upper and lower registration (aka aligning) rollers tightly together. I have rarely seen both broken at the same time. Normally only one will break, causing a skewed copy more than misregistration. It seems like the few I saw that had both broken would not feed the paper past these rollers, causing a jam. The unit that these parts are located in is under the drum unit. It is easy to cause more expensive damage to the machine if you are not familiar with servicing this area. I would recommend calling a local independent service provider to repair the machine. If you are a tech, I apologize, but your last post tends to make me think you are not. If you are a tech, I would advise you to purchase the service manual AND handbook. There is a frequent poster here that sells them at a reasonable price.

The problem was the guides on the paper tray were not centered. Good call. Thanks.

That's usually what I find in these circumstances. Have to adjust regularly due to the weight if the paper when the drawer is slammed in. You might want to fix the guides in place with coarse thread screws. Helps keep them centered for a little while longer, but it makes it harer to change paper sizes.
