... that's what the call info said, but it wasn't exactly true. The part fell off a truck by all appearances.
The "Part ... " was a MJ-1101 finisher, and the covers were fractured in various places, with big scrapes of yellow ... maybe paint?
Then I got the full story. Apparently my customer bought an auction copier, and wanted the MJ-1101 finisher installed onto their other copier. He even got a couple of the brackets mounted and got it plugged in. He did not see the need to install the bridge or the finisher converter board. It still made copies and prints, but the finisher was not recognized by the machine. It's probably a good thing, or the logic board would have been blown, from plugging it in live.
After scrubbing a ton of toner off the bridge and the finisher, it all installed without a hitch ... ok, maybe one hitch. It jammed every time, after the paper lands in the top tray EA10. And if stapling EA20. The manual points me to entrance sensor S1, but I couldn't find it.
I couldn't find it for a good reason. The flag for S1 was gone. I guess I had assumed that the finisher was ugly but complete. On a hunch, I removed the right side covers, and down inside I found the actuator and spring.
After all that, I was very surprised to have an ugly, but fully functional finisher. I hope he got a really good bargain on the auction copier. It looks like it had been used as a hockey puck. =^..^=
