Toshiba e studio 65 mj-1015 finisher problem

I have a problem with the finisher, in sort mode it will start to make copies and as they come out into finisher the exit assembly will lift to pull the stack in place. Then it will slam back down early causing the paper to fold up and jam. I've gone there 3 times now and got it to run, but a week or so later its doing it again. The machine is actually a Sharp ar-650 with the ar-fn8 finisher. Will a Mj-1015 finisher work on the sharp machine? The plugs and all look exactly the same. Please help!

Check black spacer which I think sits on a peg attatched to a gear. This develops a flat spot and exit unit falls down as you described. If you have access to Ribon it is on page 17 (staple tray ass) part no 51 in the MJ1015 manual . However there is a modified spacer but to fit this you also have to get the modified gear (item 13) that it goes on or it wont fit
Hope this helps Cheers Micko

It was the spacer on the gear. I got it fixed the next day. That was the problem though. The new gear is black and has the spacer on it. The old gear is white. A bit of a pain in the ass to change.
Thanks,
Mike
